St. Joseph is the husband of St. Mary and the foster-father (guardian) of Jesus. He is the father figure of the Holy Family. St. Joseph was a carpenter and a righteous man. He was virtuous and humble. St. Joseph received communication from angels in the Gospels, and he acted in obedience to their promptings. St. Joseph is silent in all four Gospels.
